Traversée de la Manche ; pause bien méritée après la route ; pas de réseau internet ..
Arrivés jeudi soir à Calais où on a retrouvé Frank. Diner ensemble.
Réveil tôt ce matin, pour prendre le train à 9h30. Après un bon petit déjeuner, en route pour le tunnel sous la manche. Train à l’heure, arrivée en Angleterre après 35 minutes de traversée.
Le soleil est au rdv ! Nous prenons l’autoroute, direction nord d’abord (contournement sud de Londres), puis direction ouest/sud ouest.
Nous faisons une pause à Winchester : déjeuner dans un pub, puis balade dans le centre ville. Belles anciennes maisons, magnifique cathédrale. On ira la visiter une autre fois, le coût de l’entrée est beaucoup trop élevé. On pourra y aller à la fin de nos vacances, un jour à 17h30 à l’heure de l’office, c’est gratuit.
Puis on repart, direction sud ouest, vers notre location à East Creech (le point bleu sur la carte). On arrive vers 16h, on peut se poser après la route !
On est dans une ancienne grange rénovée, c’est charmant, mais internet ne fonctionne pas ce qui n’aide pas pour mettre à jour ce blog …
Arrival Thursday evening in Calais, where we meet Frank. Dinner together.
Wake up early in the morning, to take the train at 9:30. After a good breakfast, we go to the Tunnel. Train on time, arrival in England after 35 minutes crossing. Sun is shining! We take the highway, first direction North, then West/South West. We make a break in Winchester : lunch in a pub, then walk around the city center. Very nice old houses, amazing cathedral. We’ll visit next time, the entry fee is much too high. We’ll go at the end of our holidays, once at 5:30 at the time of mass, it’s free.
Then we go direction South West, to our rented house in East Creech. We arrive around 4pm, we can rest after all the driving!
We stay in an old barn which has been refurbished, it’s very nice, but internet is not working which doesn’t help to update this blog!
